Identification

11–12 cm (4¼-4¾ in)

  • Black iris
  • Short tail
  • White supercilium
  • Olive upperparts
  • Black and white spotted centre back

Distribution

[[South America: found fomr the Guianas, far eastern Venezuela and north-eastern Brazil.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

Rainforest borders and secondary woodland often near water or marshes.

Behaviour

Diet

It gleans for insects in foliage and often picks its prey from the underside of leaves.

Breeding

They are monogamous. Both adults share the incubation of the 2 eggs and subsequent care of the young.
