- Batis ituriensis
Identification
Sexually dimorphic. Small, short-tailed Batis (9 cm).
Male: Dark grey forehead and crown (forehead darker in very good views), no white nape spot. Mantle, rump and uppertail coverts dark grey. Small white spot above the lores. Lores and earcoverts black. Chin and throat white. Breastband medium broad and black, rest of underparts white. Wings and tail as other Batis. Eye yellow, bill and legs black.
Female: Similar to male except rear crown, nape and rest of upperparts lighter grey, making black forehead more noticable, small white spot above the lores and thin white supercillia reaching to white nape spot from just behind the eye.
Distribution
Albertine Rift: Found in the humid forests of eastern DRC and adjacent western Uganda
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Similar to other Batises, found in the canopy. Lowland rain forest; below 1300 m.
