Identification

The Mountain Papaya is a small tree of about 10 meters (33 ft) tall that grows in semi-cultivated areas.

Fruit

The fruit is about 6–15 cm long and 3–8 cm broad, and is green, maturing yellow and orange.

Distribution

Andes of northwestern South America, Colombia, Brazil, Panama, Bolivia and central Chile.

Taxonomy

Habitat

The Papaya tree is native to the tropics of the Americas, from southern Mexico and Central America.
