Distribution

South America: found from the foothills of southern Colombia to eastern Ecuador and adjacent north-eastern Peru.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

Humid montane forests generally at heights around 1000–1800 m.

Their main diet consists of nectar; they also hawk for insects.
