Identification
This small woodpecker is found creeping up the sides of trees.
Distribution
Taxonomy
Three subspecies recognized:
- Y. m. validirostris on Catanduanes, Lubang, Luzon, Marinduque, Mindoro
- Y. m maculatus on Sibuyan, Cebu, Guimaras, Negros, Panay and Gigantes
- Y. m fulvifasciatus on Samar, Calicoan, Leyte, Bohol, Basilan, Mindanao and Dinagat
Sulu Pygmy Woodpecker was formerly considered conspecific.
