- Dryoscopus angolensis
Identification
Length 15-16 cm.
Male: Plain grey back and wings, pale grey breast and flanks. The eyes are dark.
Female: Grey crown and nape, brown back and rufous throat and breast.
Distribution
Discontinuous in Africa between 5°N and 13°S. Eastern Nigeria to southern Sudan, western Kenya and Angola.
Taxonomy
Subspecies
Dryoscopus angolensis has three subspecies[1]:
- D. a. angolensis:
- D. a. nandensis:
- Northeastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, extreme southern South Sudan, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, western Kenya, and northwestern Tanzania
- D. a. kungwensis:
- Western Tanzania (Kungwe-Mahare region)
Habitat
Canopy and edge of tropical moist montane and submontane forest.
Behaviour
Vocalization
Includes a loud chow chow chow and a dry trrrrrr.
