Identification
The sexes are alike though the male is larger than the female. Size: 19 in. Upper half of the head black; going down this color by the rear neck; rest of the face, throat and neck creamy white. Back light coffee spotted with dark brown. Chest and flanks with the same color but with smaller spots. Rear flanks with dark brown and fine transversal strips. Upper tail coverts grayish. Distribution
The Puna Teal is resident in the Andes of central Peru and western Bolivia south to northern Chile and extreme north-west Argentina.
