Identification
60 cm. Black, red tail bands; females are brownish-black with yellow barring and spotting and have yellow-orange tail stripes.

Habitat
Eucalyptus woodlands near water, shrubland and grassland.
Behaviour
The diet includes eucalyptus seeds, berries, fruits, various insects and grubs.
They build their nests in tree cavities. 1 to 2 white eggs are laid, but often only 1 nestling survives infancy.
