Amazona brasiliensis

This is a free-flying individual that nested in a seaside motel garden and was ringed by some local ornithologists. It came to a feeder tray the motel owners put out for it. Photographed south of Registro, Sao Paolo, Brazil

Identification

Deep green, red, yellow, and blue on head, wings, and tail, broad red band on its tail that becomes especially visible when males are attracting females.

Its diet includes fruit, leaves, flowers and the insects within fruit.
