Distribution
Brunei, Indonesia, and Malaysia.
Taxonomy
Clements[1] recognizes seven subspecies which are split into three species (or placed in other species) by Gill and Donsker[2]:
- Barusan Cuckoo-Dove (Macropygia modiglianii)
- M. a. hypopercna:
- Simeulue Island (off northwest Sumatra)
- M. a. elassa:
- Mentawi Islands (Siberut, Sipura and Pagai)
- M. a. modiglianii:
- Nias Island (off western Sumatra)
- Enggano Cuckoo-Dove (Macropygia cinnamomea)
- M. a. cinnamomea:
- Enggano Island (off western Sumatra)
- Ruddy Cuckoo-Dove (Macropygia cinnamomea)
- M. a. emiliana:
- Krakatau, Java, Lombok, Sumbawa, Flores and Paloe islands
- M. a. megala:
- Kangean Islands (off northeast Java)
- Included in Philippine Cuckoo-Dove by Gill and Donsker:
- M. a. borneensis:
- Northern Borneo
