Identification
Dull coloured bird.
Distribution
Sub-Saharan Africa.
Taxonomy
Coracias naevius has two subspecies:
- C. n. naevius; and
- C. n. mosambicus.
Habitat
Dry thornveld.
Behaviour
The diet includes insects, spiders, scorpions and small lizards.
It builds nests in trees or old woodpecker holes. 3 white eggs are laid and the young are fed by both parents.
