Identification
Dull brown plumage, rounded head and fine bill. Distinctive white eyestripe. Unstreaked grey-brown back, white grey underparts. The sexes are identical.
Distribution
Southern Europe into temperate western Asia.
Taxonomy
Habitat
Reedbeds and marshes.
Behaviour
The diet includes insects.
3-6 eggs are laid in a nest in reeds.
