- Luscinia cyane
Identification
Blue upperparts and white underparts, pale buff eye-ring . The female is much drabber, with brown upperparts and white underparts and a dark eye which stands out against the paler brown face; long, strong looking bill with the pale grey base to the lower mandible.
Distribution
Asia to Japan and Indonesia. Accidental vagrant to Alaska with 1 record.
Taxonomy
Habitat
Coniferous forests with dense undergrowth near water.
Behaviour
The diet includes insects; it is a ground feeder.
