Identification

40 - 41cm. A medium-sized crow.

  • Massive pale bill with a dark tip and a strongly arched culmen
  • Dark nasal bristles parted at forehead
  • Black plumage with a green gloss

Sexes similar. Juveniles undescribed

Distribution

Endemic to the Solomon Islands where found on Choiseul, Santa Isabel and Guadalcanal.
Locally common but range very small.

The proposed subspecies vegetus from Santa Isabel is usually considered invalid.
Sometimes treated as conspecific with Bougainville Crow and may form a superspecies with it.
