- Brown forehead
- Blackish crown, with white specks and broad yellow tips
- Black nape and hind neck
- White lores
Distribution
Africa: found from south-western Cameroon to southern Sudan, Uganda, western Kenya and north-western Angola
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Placed in genus Chloropicus by Gill and Donsker.
Habitat
Large trees in lowland forest and frest edges.
Behaviour
Diet
Their diet consists almost entirely of insects such as ants and spiders, but particularly wood boring beetles and their larvae.
