Ptarmigan in May (1 Viewer)

I'm working in Elgin during the first week in May, and I may get a few days available to look for the Ptarmigan. Didn't have much luck last year at Cairn Gorm ski resort, so I'm wondering if there's a better alternative to scanning the landscape at the terraces by the cafe. I don't really feel confidant with a long hike up the mountains, so ideally I'm looking at half an hours walk from where I can park the car.
