Migrant Geese around Rainford, St Helens area (1 Viewer)

Hi

This is my first post in the BirdForum. I am new to Birding and want to step up my interest in the hobby, so I guess the first step up is to properly find out what is around me locally.

Each year we get huge numbers of migrating Geese around the Rainford area, they are quite a sight when they come flying in or for whatever reason are spooked and take off at once in their hundreds/thousands.

What do we know about these Geese? What type are they? Where do they come from?

They are most likely to be Pink Footed Geese and every year they go to WWT Martin Mere and surrounding area's.
