Hello Forum!
I've been watching an evening grosbeak hanging out under my truck in the driveway and around the feeders for about the past week or so. It's strange. He acts like a juvenile... dropped wings, begging to the female that's almost always beside him... but he's got full adult plumage. I don't understand it. It seems way too soon to have full adult coloring but there's no mistaking the actions of a baby. He's the only one I've seen acting this way out of the whole flock of 25 or so grosbeaks that are here. I do still see males and females doing the regular dance of 'him feeding her on the feeder'. That's what makes me think it's too soon for babies to have adult coloring.
Any ideas out there?
