Bound for the North! (Cygnus cygnus)

The last rays of the setting sun were partially eclipsed by a dense rain-cloud which threw the background into darkness whilst the swans in the foreground were picked out by a shaft of light. The exposure was a bit of a nightmare and I needed a few goes to get it right. Fortunately the Whoopers were leaving in small groups every few minutes -this was the last group to go.

The call of the North must be answered!

Just like the "call of nature" Steve, beautiful image mate, the birds stand up great on that dark backdrop.

Fantastic shot Steven. Low, raking, contrasty light magnificent. Tremendous effort on your part, birds took care of the rest. Make quite a team.

Superb shot. I thought at first it was multiple exposure. Excellent. Well done on the exposure - a nightmare scene to get right!

WoW! Beautiful shot. You got the exposure and shutter just right. Excellent capture and post.
