Crimson-backed Tanager (Ramphocelus dimidiatus isthmicus) female.
Habitat
Tropical premontane broadleaf forest (cloud forest/rain forest) at 626 m (2,054 ft) elevation; situated in a caldera of an extinct volcano. Grounds planted to attract birds and butterflies (Lantana, Porterweed, Firebush, etc.).
Location
Canopy Lodge, El Valle de Antón, Coclé Province, Panamá.

A fabulous closeup of this tanager: so sharp I can see tiny raindrops on its feathers. The bird looks very intelligent, too.
