Feb/March prize competition entry. No comments please until after the voting process.

One of the entries that really caught my eye in this months competition and which I thought would have attracted more votes. Still it made 4th place with 17/360 votes cast after the first round of voting.

I agonized over the choice between this and Tepke's owl for a long time. The colors of the bird and the branch and the background just really work. and the sharpness and focus bring it home. I think this is truly a beautiful picture.

Beautiful, super-detailed portrait. Congratulations on your strong finish in the voting. Glen

This was my favourite, stunning bird and there was something about the colours in this shot that appealed to me... and that branch is amazing, if i weren't so enviromentally upstanding, I'd chop it off and make sure it featured in every one of my photos ;)
