Why does Nikon make the best binoculars in the world? (12 Viewers)

swarovski, leica and zeiss ....

Precisely - these three brands are the best, as many other threads on BF confirm.

Sorry, but I have had ALOT of Leicas

Ah, thanks for letting us know. You are used binocular salesman, just as I expected. People who buy Leica (or Zeiss or Swarovski) buy one pair which lasts for a lifetime.

The Nikons are in fact the very best ever. I cant believe how much better they seem, handle, and look.

Thanks for entertaining us! You bought bins, found them faulty, send and recieved written note back - all in one minute!

BTW - there is a small secret to binoculars. Their value depends on looking THROUGH.
:-O :-O :-O

I just grabbed EDG 8x32 series I at a local optics shop. Price $495 seemed a little high, but I went for it.

optics are clean, but the case has some marks on it. I'll send them back to Nikon and see what they can do.

Review/comparison w/ SII and LT forthcoming.
OK, I jsut compared them. The Nikons are in fact the very best ever. I cant believe how much better they seem, handle, and look. Glass is clear to the edges, and the focus wheel is buttery smooth. "TACK sharp optics". They may even be worth 2x the price of a sightron.

OK, I spent more time with the EDG and the case is bothering me. sendingback to Nikon fo repair.
OK, just received personal handwritten note from NIkon... no replacement cases, so they will ship a brand new prototype EDGIII in its stead.

Review on its way.
EDG III prototype is likely the best bino released yet. They came in DHL today and so far I am blown away.

Shipping them to Dennis right now so he can try them out.

The EDGIII have been gone for a little while, and I am surprised to say I dont miss them as much as I thought.

I have several other binos with equivalent centerfield sharpness and wider FOV. Though the edges arent as good, I only bird in the centerfield so its really moot. Nice glass, but nothing singular.

I plan on selling the EDGIII prototypes for what I paid plus shipping. They are on route to Dennis now, so if anyone is interested PM him re the EDGIII. I figure total cost of $510 is sufficient and a fair price considering.

PM Dennis for all details, as they are no longer in my posession.

Thanks.

Now that right there is funny. Oh my!

...and all in the span of about 45 minutes!

;)

Bright Idea
You had me going for a minute, as at first I thought I was reading one of Dennis's "Once Upon A Time" episodes broadcast live from Storybrook, Colorado.

Good fiction as usual. I see you have learned from the master!

Now BrightIdea just needs to replace EDG with with SV, CL, etc., to continue the production of episode2, 3....

Is that where you go for therapy? I know it hurts deep down inside that you can't afford the EDG. Sell a few of those CPOS that you have and bid on those EDG's on E-bay. There is still a couple of days left on the auction.

CPOS I assume stands for Chinese Piece of $hit. Well the vast majority of the Nikon line-up is Chinese, so does that mean that the vast majority of their lineup except the EDG's and SE's (Japan) are CPOS using your own words?

I assume their higher end offerings are great, but I look at the Nikon Monarch mid level offerings and they are uninspiring and get beat by a lot of the other players in that market. Plus they have made a marketing disaster of the monarch line with all the models in the last 3-4 years, instead of improving the line to make it more competitive with other companies. Instead they have added lower end models, with I assume a better profit margin, and assume people will buy because it says Nikon.

Those posts cracked me up! I never realized you had a sense of humor! I thought you were like Henry. Drier than a piece of beef jerky or a popcorn fart!

Given the plethora of national laws and regulations around the world concerning the phrase "made in _____ " (fill in name of country of choice), and the realities of globalization, there is no way to know what parts of any binocular (including the glass) are actually fabricated in the stated country of origin.

That was a very intelligent response! I learned alot from that. it was really deep.

Yea, why you were laughing I outbid you on a mint Vintage Nikon 7x35 Super Super Super Super Super Super Super Super Wide Angle Porro Prism binocular that was on E-bay. It has a 1455 FOV @ 15 degrees! You can actually see your own butt and around corners when you look through it. You could have had 386 pair instead of only 385 pair of vintage binoculars like you do now. HaHa! Who's laughing now?

Dennis you copy vop's post and ask him to remove it.;) I am starting to like this thread with BrightIdea's post etc. this has become a pretty funny thread.

I try to entertain,as well as,educate. I am glad you are enjoying it. I am well known for starting some of the most fascinating and controversial threads on Bird Forum. If you want to learn the history of the binocular or study diagrams of optical systems go read Henry's threads or if you want to be educated on every model of vintage porro prism from the 80's go read Frank's threads. BORING!

CPOS doesn't refer to Nikon's Chinese binoculars. They might be Chinese made but they are not all POS. I am talking about the stuff that LilCrazy loves like the Olympus Tracker that melts down in the sun when it gets to hot. I am mainly talking about Nikon's better binoculars that are made in Japan like the EDG and the SE.

How would you know if it's fiction or not. Have you ever laid your hands on a binocular like the EDG much less actually used one birding. I am sure if you did you would have all your CPOS on E-bay trying to rake in enough cash for a down payment on one. HaHa!

You're hardly worth the effort to even respond to anymore. Seems like with each passing moment you try a little harder to convince us all you actually have something worthy of enunciation, but with little success .
Yawnnn! Wake me up when you finally resolve your childhood issues and cease needing to be the center of attention.

"Layed"?? Speak much English, or just learning?

Warning! This thread is more than 12 years ago old.
It's likely that no further discussion is required, in which case we recommend starting a new thread. If however you feel your response is required you can still do so.
