the HT's (1 Viewer)

Hello guys,
and sorry for starting this topic in a new thread, but i really can't read easily so many comments (and many of them out of topic). I believe there are other members also that feel uncomfortable reading the old huge thread with many unnecessary comments, so people who have the disposal please writhe hear.

Please write about how do you feel with them, in comparison with the FL's and other alphas, with not many writing on laboratory testing comments...
Sorry again about the repeat of the thread...
George

642 replies on the original thread! Considering only a handful of birders on the thread have actually tried the HT, yeah, I guess you could say there's a lot of flatulence in between those reviews.:smoke:

I think with the hype and the delays, there was a lot of interest as well as a lot of frustration being aired.

But like Eddy, I don't think too many people want to Pete and Repeat. It would be nice to have all the "HT Reviews" linked on one thread for easier reference and so they could continue when more people get their hands on HTs. I'm not sure when that will be because Zeiss took down their days late counter!. Either that's a good sign or they feel they have sufficiently embarrassed themselves. ;)

Brock:

Good observation, limited comments here and some experienced users,
even longtime Zeiss users, did not pick the new HT over some other top binoculars such as the Swarovision.
I suppose it is like most things, many will decide they prefer one over another.

Please see my comments on the here are the HT´s thread,I will not repeat them here, Eddy.

Eddy,
i've read your comments on the HT thread. You don't need to rewrite them of course, maybe some people will write here their opinions on the HT's. It might be useful though to copy paste them here if you like. Thank you anyway!

Brock, i don't want to offend you, but from the 642 so replies on the original HT thread the 1/5 of these is from you.. and you haven't even tried them..
Some of us besides some useful general opinions prefer to hear from people with personal experience in real life, and not focused on laboratory testings and scientific terns..

I´m sorry to be a pain.I am computer iliterate and i have found the code ie http.// etc but I don´t know how to get it onto this thread.Any one help an old man with his first computer .Thanx Eddy.

Here are my previous comments on the HTs copied from the other thread.

"Just snatched 10 minutes between other jobs looking across the valley with both FL and HT. The difference is remarkable even allowing for newbinocularitis.

The view is of an estate of private houses, some with red roof-tiles some with grey. It has been raining so road and roofs are wet with the sunlight reflecting off these wet areas.

Through the HTs the wet parts glisten and sparkle, the red roofs are redder (!) and the green grass lawns are greener and in short there is a greater range of contrast.

I can't believe I'm writing this but by comparison the FL is lifeless and dull.

These observations were made by swapping back and forth at very short intervals between the FL and the HT so that changes in illumination are seen through both bins.

On this evidence I have to reappraise my earlier summary and say that the HTs are like FLs with the optics turned up to 13 (not 11) and with the ergonomics turned up to 15."

Hope this helps.

Lee

Eddy, clicking on these links below takes a reader to the two posts containing the main comments (the other posts there by you are shorter and are mostly to reply specific queries on some lesser points).
Eddy's comments in the other thread:
http://www.birdforum.net/showpost.php?p=2584906&postcount=614
http://www.birdforum.net/showpost.php?p=2585837&postcount=628
To copy those two texts (and whatever else) here: just 'highlihgt' there, then 'copy' using a right-button click there, and 'paste' with a r-b. click here (assuming that's how your equipment works!). Not doing it myself as not sure if those are the texts you want here.

Thanks Pompadour,

Those links from Eddy begin the comments on the HTs. Others can now continue below with theirs.:t:

OUCH 8-P

Brock- he does have a point there. I like ya- but you do have a long track record of commenting A LOT on bins that you have not actually looked at.

Heck, look at all the posts in the FL threads from Brock. Those bins have been around since 2004 and yet he still hasn't tried a pair!

Brock, man, you owe it to yourself and this forum to make some time and actually try out the FL, SV, HT etc. As a binophile, I think you would really enjoy them all....even with the fuzzy edges, rolling ball and stiff focus....;]

Flare etc

For all you guys concerned about flare and stray light getting into the HTs: good news.

On my 8x42s the objective lenses are way more recessed than in the FLs. I would say they are twice as deeply set.

Hi Lee, are you in a position to give your appraisal of your new 8x42 yet?I think I have said everything I can think of in respect of the 10x42 I know I have not been scientific but I says what I sees, nothing more nothing less.To sum up my review I have to say that since I have had the HT´s my scope has stayed in the car.Nuff said eh Eddy

Re comments by and about Brock, done above and intended: you might like to stay mindful of the original post (the first of the thread) - opinions respected, and I do realise you expand on that very point, but such posts may quickly turn counter-productive!

Hi Eddie

Glad you are enjoying your HTs. I haven't had a chance to go birding yet so have been confined to the view from our house, and this I summed up in post No 10 in this thread. I can't add to that at this point, aside from repeating that when I A and B the HT and FL one after the other the difference is significant.

The HT is definitely not just an FL in a new party frock.

Has anyone lucky enough to own a pair of 10x42 HT's, had the opportunity to compare their optical quality to the 10x42 Swarovski SV's ?

Cheers Tim
