Could someone confirm this is Pyramidal? Riverside CP, Gillingham, Kent last week.
Thanks,
Andy M.
Thankyou for the update good to know. At least something has escaped taken so far.Went to the Bristol lizard orchid site today. Found 3 today , all behind the barrier. Almost in full flower . Saw 2 or 3 other groups looking today . You can view them from the path and this photo was taken from the path.
Late Spider and Lizards looking grand in Kent yesterday, highly recommend a visit this week if you're planning on seeing them. Incredible plants!!
Just got back from a visit to a supposid location for hybrid Butterfly orchids beside the Teifi river. No conclusive specimens were found but plenty of both parents growing side by side. However, the number of Greater Butterflys were dwarfed by the number of Lesser Butterflys growing in the adjacent peat and tussock bog where I lost count. By far the most I have ever seen of this species in Britain (~250 spikes?) and some of the largest - a true spectacle!
Also a pic of some other orchid I found at Kenfig yesterday - any ideas what it is?

Went to a Dorset site for D. incanata ssp. pulchella x D. maculata hybrids (information from Ted Pratt's booklet "The Special Wild Flowers of Purbeck"). The orchids there appeared to be D. incanata ssp. pulchella but this one stood out as a being particularly sturdy. There were no spots on the leaves however, which I believe D. x carnea would have, so it is probably a normal pulchella, but would appreciate comments from someone with more knowledge than me on hybrids, so that I know what to look for in future.

Lol you jammy thing. If I was a better driver my photo OCD would have me going all the way back to get a picture with all the flowers out
Haha...success
While you're here - Dark Green Frit?>>
Poosibblyyy? Probably I'd say. Where was it? I'm in the pub ATM so can't actually check it out lol. Nice pic as well btw
Kenfig - think someone went the other day and had their pics confirmed as Dark Green so I assume it is.
Apologies to everyone else who's here for orchids, I was just too lazy to go to the insect forum!
