    Beginning setup for D50

reply... you'll probable get lots of replies to your question.... but here's my 2penceworth... I've got a D50 with a Sigma 400mm Apo Macro (prime) lens... I also use a 1.4x TC. The 1.5x magification you get with Nikon cameras means that this lens is equivalent to 600mm on a 35mm film camera...

    Opinions on Canon D60

Canon D60... ...the D60 will work very well with your 400mm lens (both from the same 'era').. The 10d will 'probably' not be 100% ( lock up AF etc)... I had both a D60 and 10D together with the same lens as you at one time and altho' the D60 focus speed was 'slightly' slower (nothing to worry...

Nikon D50 work with a Kenko Teleplus Pro DG 300 X3 converter?

re...Kenko ...I use the Kenko x1.4 and the x2 on a Sigma 400mm Apo Macro (prime)... both work very well.... It depends on your lens... TC's are not really recommended for zoom lenses although they do work. Much better speed and quality on a prime tho'. If you've got a 'standard' 70-300 lens...

    1.4x and 2.0x TC's

For the past couple of months for 'birding' ..I've been using an old (from ebay) Sigma 400mm f5.6 Apo Macro (prime) lens with my Nikon D50. Very pleased. I purchased a Kenko 1.4 x TC and again - very good results - hardly noticeable drop in quality... There's never enough range for birds - so...

    What's wrong?

DoF Formula ..what's the formula for working this DoF out.... ..distance fron subject ...focal length .....there's very little depth of field (DOF): assuming you were (say) ten feet from the bird, with an actual focal length of 500mm, you've only got 0.6 of a centimetre of DOF - 0.3...

7dayshop cheap SD cards, anyone tried them?

SD own brand ... I've got a 7 Day Shop '1gig own brand' in my D50 and it works very well - no problems.... I've also just received a 2gig card from an eBay purchase (posted from China) and that also works as required... ...go for it.....
