Request for Cetti's and Grasshopper Warbler in S Engand

I have Cetti's on my local patch at Motney Hill, Rainham - but they are a devil to see. They are a real 'bring a chair and a flask' job.

    Cliffe Pools, 16/6/12

Having taken something of an enforced break from regular birding, I'm back in the game. Having reacquainted myself with my local patch, I found myself with a few hours to kill while my son did a GCSE revision session at Hundred of Hoo school last Saturday. It seemed the ideal opportunity to nip...

    Nor Marsh/Motney Hill

You've SEEN a Motney Cetti's? Lucky so-and-so! I've only ever heard one down there! The last time I was down there was a few weeks ago, and it was fairly quiet, but still a nice change from being at work. Cliffe has improved a bit, I think, in terms of 'ned' pollution. I saw a Barn Owl there a...

    Motney Hill

Been out of the frame for a bit recently. Motney is getting plagued with oiks on bikes, which is a real shame. If anyone gets down there and has problems with off-road bikers, report it to the Police. There's a PC running an operation to combat the problem in the Medway area. Can't remember his...

    Best place in the S.E

I had great views of a Hobby at Stodmarsh the last time I was there, and the Swifts were so low, and flew so close to my head, I could hear their wings slicing through the air. Highly recommended.

    RSPB vale farm (loch leven)

That hill's a lung-buster, isn't it? And steep enough on the way down to make you watch where you put your feet, too. If you're in that neck of the woods again, the rocks at Silversands beach at Aberdour are always worth a couple of hours.

    Red Kite over Rainham

Funny you should mention that; yes, they were.

    Red Kite over Rainham

Not, Rainham in Essex, btw, Rainham in Kent. I was sitting in the garden yesterday, relaxing after a day at work (Sunday - not a common occurrence these days) when herself said "Is that a Kestrel?" All I could see was a Collared Dove on the TV aerial of the house next door, so I shifted my...

It might not make a summer...

But when I looked out of the office window and saw a Swallow this morning, it made my day!

    I am a "stupido"

Stick with it - it'll get easier! Welcome to BF.

    Dungerness or Elmley

Yeah, that'd be good - I'd lost track of the thread 'cos I haven't been around the last few days, but I need an excuse to get out and about. PM me when you know what dates you might be available?

    Stolen Leica Trinovids

The scumbags will probably have sold them to feed their crack/smack habit by now.

    BIRD LOVERS...please read.

Hmm, I'd been thinking of buying a pair of Redwing boots - I shan't now.

    Dungerness or Elmley

Seawatching from North Foreland can be quite bracing, and there's the chance of Little Owl in the vicinity of Quex Park - I saw one very close to the road the other week, early afternoon. I nearly crashed the car.

How obsessed are you with birds?

30 - and I'm happy with that. The lottery win would buy a pair of Leicas for those 'just in case' moments at work!
