    Vacation Advice Requested

Kenya would certainly be a good bet - either north (preferably) or south of Mombasa. Excellent hotels and beaches with plenty of birds in and around the hotels. A 2/3-day safari to Tsavo National Park is both affordable and popular with tourists, offering the chance to see plenty of animals...

    Your 2006 birding highlights?

Six different species of Albatross on a pelagic trip out of Quintero, Central Chile three weeks ago, plus among others Peruvian Diving-Petrel, Wilson's Storm-Petrel, Cape Petrel, Southern Fulmer, Hall's Giant Petrel, White-chinned Petrel and Inca Tern. An amazing day!

    Tropical cloud forest, what gear?

I spent a few days in the Tandayapa Valley a couple of years back. It will probably rain most days but not usually for too long, so I would strongly recomment you wear 'layers' of clothing. It can be damp and cold at first light, but when the sun gets up it can also be fairly warm - lightweight...
