Who's building a nest in this large nest box?

Some bird or birds has stuffed enough materials in this larger-size nest box (intended for woodpeckers) to cause the side to pop open. In previous years, starlings have made nests in the nest box. Is that the culprit? Northern New Jersey, 27 March 2023

Two different ducks in Rockland County, NY

I think I've identified one of these two ducks, but I'm stumped about the other one. The one with the white "eye" around its eye is a female wood duck, I believe. But the one with the two white markings on its throat... ?

    Red-breasted nuthatch?

We've seen this bird around for the past two months, a new visitor this year. It seems smaller and browner than the white-breasted nuthatches we see all the time. Today I was able to photograph it, and it has a distinct white and black stripe on its head. It has slightly different feeding...

    Savannah Sparrow?

Seen with a juicy insect in its mouth, hopping from fence to ground to a bush near the beach at Cape May, New Jersey, 20 August 2018. It seemed very slender. It wouldn't leave the area; it seemed like there was a young one waiting somewhere -- it gave what could have been its "stay quiet and...

    Sparrow-sized bird with black accents

Northern suburban New Jersey, August 4, 2018. Perhaps because of the heavy rain, this bird was "bunched up". It briefly appeared and then flew off. Black accents made it stand out from the usual house sparrows and house finches. The accents might be bluish-black.
