Sparrow-sized bird with black accents (1 Viewer)

Northern suburban New Jersey, August 4, 2018. Perhaps because of the heavy rain, this bird was "bunched up". It briefly appeared and then flew off. Black accents made it stand out from the usual house sparrows and house finches. The accents might be bluish-black.

Aha! Makes sense... spotted an adult male (black body, brown head) the same day.
