    Some bird (or small group) calls every night, any time during the night from dark until light. I have not noticed it during the day or at dusk, only full dark. The best description is probably that it sounds like a squeaky dog toy... here is a not very good recording (turn the volume up!)...

    My mother's just phoned me to identify a bird but I'm stumped. Spotted in her garden, Manchester (Prestwich) suburban area. Small, sparrow sized but sleeker, more 'sloped'. White sides with biscuit brown back, smooth brown not streaked. Very beautiful (subjective I know!) and was apparently...

    Baby dunnock found...

    Well that was a lot of fuss over nothing. After being driven mad by cheeping all morning, we decided to put it near the window where the feeders are to hopefully attract the parents and see what happens. As soon as the bowl was put in the sunlight near the open window (French doors, 2nd floor)...

    There's one Aylesbury duck in my local park which is always together with three other ducks, but I'm not sure what they are. They're a bit smaller than the Aylesbury and a bit bigger than mallards. They're a very light brown colour mixed with white, with black beaks and feet. Their back end...

    Baby dunnock found...

    Hello all, new here :) Tonight as I was leaving the house I noticed a baby dunnock sitting on a neighbour's doorstep (I live in a small black of flats). Now I know about baby birds and not to take them in etc but I didn't like to leave it there all exposed for the whole night... I moved it...
