    Scaup identification help

Ohh - yes, a scaup. This scaup was seen in Tennessee (USA). A group of us have called it a greater scaup, but it isn't clear-cut (as is many times with scaup). To us, it clearly isn't a lesser scaup but some other birds have suggested that it is. For now, I won't go into the traits that we...

Zeiss SF 8X32 after 8 weeks of use...

I received my Zeiss SF 10x32 a few weeks ago and I have been birding a lot with them. Previously, I used Zeiss FL 8x32 and Swarovski FP 8x32. I wanted a bit more 'reach' with a 10x but disliked using 10x42s due to size and weight. I was a bit leery about the 10x32 format, but I have really...

Where are all the 8x32 SF reviews? After all the speculation...

I received my SF 10x32 last week, and have been birding with them nearly everyday. Prior to these, I used Victory FL 8x32 and Swarovski FP 8x32. I wanted a bit more 'reach' but did not like the size and weight of 10x42s. So far, I'm enjoying the SF and haven't found any problems with them.

    10x32 viable alternative to 10x42?

I just got my Zeiss Victory SF 10x32. Prior to this model, I used Victory FL 8x32 and Swarovski FP 8x32 a lot and enjoyed them very much. I wanted a bit more 'reach' but did not like the size or weight of 10x42s. The SF is terrific. Yes - they have those aspects of 10x32: a bit finicky with...

    SF 32, First Impressions

Lee - I think you said that you wear glasses. So the 10x32 worked well with glasses? I have an EL 8x32 but I’m thinking about getting a 10x32. I don’t care too much for the size/weight of 10x42s.

    SF 32, First Impressions

Lee - sounds like you were very impressed. I have been toying with the idea of getting a 10x32 primarily because I like the small size - that's the reason I didn't purchase a SF x42. I was leaning towards the Swarovski EL 10x32 but I think I'll wait and check out the new SF 10x32.

Tripod/head combo for Swaro ATS 65

AS is stamped on my ATX85 foot but not on the ATX65 foot. Thanks for your help.

Tripod/head combo for Swaro ATS 65

These posts are very informative for me as I keep learning about tripods and heads. My ATX65 (purchased in 2017) fits the Manfrotto 128RC (first pic) and Swarovski DH101 (second pic) directly without plates. Would they then fit a Gitzo GHF2W without a plate?

    Gitzo head question

Oops I meant - they fit withOUT plates.

    Gitzo head question

Thanks for the information. I greatly appreciate. Just to be clear, however, my ATX65 (purchased in 2017) fits the 128RC (first pic) and DH101 (second pic) directly with plates.

Tripod/head combo for Swaro ATS 65

Does the foot of an ATX fit directly into a GHF2W or GH1720QR or must you use a plate?

    Gitzo head question

Would the feet of the ATX65 or APO-televid 65 fit directly into a Gitzo GHF2W or GH1720GR without using a plate? Both fit directly into the Manfrotto 128RC and Swarovski DH101. Thanks

First impressions of a few 10x alphas

Check out that link under the Zeiss thread x32 SF. That SF 10x32 looks very interesting - a bit longer than the EL 10x32 (and a few other differences) but that FOV is great.
