    Cuckoo? Oman

Thanks for the replies all, I've sent the pics and a description to the bird recorder. I'm intrigued about the WPal boundaries, is Oman included now by some authorities?

    Large Acro, Oman December

This large Acrocephalus warbler was one of a number at a coastal marsh by Ash Shuwaymiyyah, Dhofar in the South of Oman in mid-December. I think they were Indian/Clamorous Reed Warbler and from distribution probably Indian, but confirmation from someone who knows a bit more about Acro ID would...

    Nightjar, Oman December

I am pretty sure this is a European/Eurasian Nightjar but wanted to post on here for confirmation. The bird was seen at Wadi Darbat in Dhofar, the South of Oman in December last year. Thanks! Louis

This bird was at an oasis at the end of Wadi Ash Shuwaymiyah, in Dhofar in the South of Oman in December. Is it a Common Hawk Cuckoo? Sorry for the quality of the photos! Thanks! Louis

    2016 UK Orchids

Hoping to go to Pegsdon Hills/Hoo Bit this week for the Fly Orchids. I'm based in Cambridge but limited to public transport & my bike so think they might be the easiest to get to for me! I've never been before - if anybody has any advice on where to find them/if they're looking good at the...

    South India in August/September

Hi all, I will be in South India on holiday with my non-birding girlfriend for around a month from 15th August. Besides flying in and out of Mumbai we have a very fluid itinerary! I know that monsoon is going to make birding a little difficult and that most of the top birding sites in South...

    Opticron's new Travelscope

Got myself an MM3 for backpacking and am using it with a HDF zoom eyepiece. I have to say I've been very impressed with the setup so far and having the scope on top of a very small tripod (Velbon Ultra Luxi L) it seems to me to be an ideal travelscope! Attached some photos for anyone interested...

    Night-time Thick-knee Sri Lanka

Inadvertantly ended up taking a photo of a stone-curlew/thick knee species on the beach at Trincomalee, Sri Lanka whilst trying to take photos (of people!) at night. Shot was taken in August 2011. Can this be IDed? Thanks!

    Sri Lanka Stork ID

Thanks for the responses guys. I think what I thought were all dark upperwings in the 1st picture are actually the underwing in shadow?

    Sri Lanka Stork ID

Thanks for the reply! That was my thinking as well. Haven't been able to find any photos of Lesser Adjutants flying with extended necks though which made me a little unsure.

    Myanmar Raptor ID

This bird was seen from the train between Shwenyaung (near Inle Lake) and Kalaw. The bird was circling very high and I managed to get a couple of, as always, awful photos! Taken in December. Any help appreciated. Cheers
