    Do you ignore Leica ?

I hate to say it, but I ended up not buying the Ultravids. I went to the store today; they got them in stock and I could try out the HD plus. I start out by stating that the Leicas are lovely binoculars, and the view is everything that I could want. They are everything that I could personally...

    Do you ignore Leica ?

Yes it is, but the searching is 99% of the fun!!! It was great to have an excuse to try out all the other binoculars though. I'll be honest, it was a very close between the Ultravid and the Swarovision for me. The views through both are simply amazing to me- I have an exceedingly hard time...

How Many Pairs of Binoculars do you Have?

My modest collection: Zen Ray ED3 7x43 Eden 8x56 I may have something else on its way, but we'll wait until that's finalized before I say anything.

Kea: New Birding App Needs Testers

Hey, I haven't had a chance to check out the app as I have android machines, but I noticed the comments. So if you're open for suggestion, then here's one from a science teacher in an international school- if you have regional variations in the names, you'd perhaps be better off having the most...

    Eschenbach binoculars?

I live above an optometrist in Germany, and he carries the Eschenbach binocular line. I have to say that they are pretty decent for the money. The 8x56 are very nice and clear, but only in the center of the view to my eyes. I think they are decent, but I imagine that they probably have them...

    Do you ignore Leica ?

Just spent the entire yesterday trying out nearly a dozen pairs of glass from the Big 3. The result: I have a pair of 7x43 Ultravid Plus on their way! The view is magic! Leica definitely wasn't ignored by me!!!

    ZRS HD 8x32

Lanius Books provides Demo binoculars to try. I am certain he would accept a return if the Zen-Rays aren't correct.

    New Zen Ray ED-4?

I'd be more than happy to do it. And to write a very thorough report too!!!

Is Zen Ray still in business? Can't get support.

I live in Germany, and I get email from the US everyday. :king: But seriously, I was wondering because in the past Charles always answered super fast and I was really worried they went out of business or something, I love my Zen-Rays.

Is Zen Ray still in business? Can't get support.

Does anyone know if Zen Ray went out of business or something? I've sent them a couple of emails in the past months trying to get my binoculars repaired, and haven't heard back. Or are they on vacation?

Eden XP 10x56 vs Vortex Vulture HD 10x56

I absolutely love my Eden 8x56s, they are bulletproof! Seriously, I just had my entire 8th grade class using them to look at birds in Berlin. I haven't tried the 10 power binos yet, I'm not a 10 power fan. But the only difference between the 8x and 10x will be the objectives. The view is...

    Lens pens for cleaning?

Personally, I would avoid isopropyl alcohol unless it is absolutely necessary. Nowadays, many of the optics are coated with a hydrophobic layer to shed water, and I'm sure that stuff is made of 'polar' molecules. Solvents such as isopropyl alcohol and acetone are also slightly polar, which...

    Lens pens for cleaning?

I don't have a lot of experience with the Lens Pen, however, being a photography enthusiast I have seen a lot of negative press regarding the Lens Pen with regards to its use on camera lenses. As mentioned in an earlier post, they tend to leave quite a bit of graphite (or some other) residue...

    Zen Ray 7x43 ED3

Hey Pompadour, I hope I cover all of your points here in my response- Light wise, I am very happy the 7x43 performance in low light- but they are very similiar to 8x43/8x42. The 8x56 is my king of low light performance- so I use those most often during dark days/evenings/planet watching...

    Zen Ray 7x43 ED3

Hey Pompadour, it's flattering in a way that I'm 'being stalked!' But to answer your question, I first tried out the ED3 8x43 and it was superb glass. I loved the Zen Rays, and I love their customer service for sure. And I love Lanius Books for letting me use their binoculars for a month...
