The easiest site to view New Zealand Fernbirds, 10 minutes from Invercargill. An original forest remnant with graduation from podocarp forest to rush meadow, on the edge of the New River Estuary. Pest control and re-vegetation to improve the habitat is ongoing. The location is soon to be included as a Ramsar wetland of international importance.
