[edit] Description

All the Bustards in this genus live in Africa.

[edit] Taxonomy

Eupodotis is a genus in the family Otididae.

[edit] Lophotis vs. Eupodotis

Some authorities (Clements 2010) place Savile's Bustard, Buff-crested Bustard and Red-crested Bustard in the genus Eupodotis. However, Dickinson (2003) and Gill & Donsker (2010) place these three taxa in Lophotis.

[edit] Afrotis vs. Eupodotis

Some authorities (Clements 2010) place Black Bustard (afra) and White-quilled Bustard (afraoides) in the genus Eupodotis. However, Dickinson (2003) and Gill & Donsker (2010) place these two taxa in Afrotis.

[edit] Eupodotis vs. Lissotis

Some authorities (Sibley & Monroe, 1996) lump the genus Lissotis within Eupodotis. However, Clements (2007) and Howard & Moore (2003) have split Lissotis as a separate genus, and the Opus follows in this consensus.

[edit] Eupodotis vs. Houbaropsis

Some authorities (Sibley & Monroe, 1996) lump the genus Houbaropsis within Eupodotis. However, Clements (2007) and Howard & Moore (2003) have split Houbaropsis as a separate genus, and the Opus follows in this consensus.

[edit] Eupodotis vs. Sypheotides

Some authorities (Sibley & Monroe, 1996) lump the genus Sypheotides within Eupodotis. However, Clements (2007) and Howard & Moore (2003) have split Sypheotides as a separate genus, and the Opus follows in this consensus.
