Genus: Hypositta

Description

This genus contains only one species, the Nuthatch-Vanga.
The claw of the first toe is elongated in this species.

Taxonomy

Hypositta is a genus in the family Vangidae. It's regarded as monotypic by most authorities. However, some accept Bluntschli's Vanga, only known by two specimens of juvenile birds, as second species, while others think they were aberrant Nuthatch Vangas.
This genus was in the past placed in a separate, monotypic family Hyposittidae or within the tits.
