Genus: Paradisaea
Description
True Birds-of-Paradise from New Guinea and adjacent islands.
Males of this genus have filamentous elongated flank plumes and greatly elongated, wire-like (or tape-like) central tail feathers.
Females are smaller and lack the elongated flank plumes and wires.
All species are polygynous and form leks (except Blue Bird-of-Paradise which advertises singly).
Taxonomy
Paradisaea is a genus in the family Paradisaeidae.
The genus name is sometimes spelled Paradisea.
