Identification

  • Bright blue head
  • Blue upperparts,
  • Paler blue underparts
  • Blue eyebrow
  • Dark bill and iris
  • Long tail

Distribution

Philippines.

Taxonomy

Formerly included in Blue Fantail together with Visayan Blue Fantail.

Subspecies

There are 2 subspecies[1]:

  • R. s. superciliaris:
  • Philippines (Basilan and Zamboanga Peninsula of northern Mindanao)
  • R. s apo :

Habitat

Forests below 1220 m. Occasionally forest edges.

Behaviour

Diet

Their diet consists almost entirely of insects. They are often seen foraging in mixed species groups.
