Identification

15–17 cm

Distribution

South America: found in eastern Paraguay to eastern and south-eastern Brazil and north-eastern Argentina (Misiones).

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1], which is sometimes placed in the genus Philydor.

Habitat

Tropical lowland forest at around 800 m.

Behaviour

Diet

Little known, but thought to eat spiders and butterflies.
