Identification

Both sexes have brown back, buffy underside, white throat, side of head gray, and male has orange crown/crest.

Distribution

Ecuador and Peru.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species1.

Habitat

Vegetation: flooded tropical evergreen forest, tropical lowland evergreen forest, white sand forests • Zoogeographic Region: Rio Negro West • Foraging Strata: Understory/undergrowth • Center of Abundance: Lower tropical: lowlands, lower than 500 m.; tropics.

Behaviour

They feed mainly on small fruits, plucked in flight, and insects.
