Afghanistan, China, India, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Pakistan, Russia, and Tajikistan.
Taxonomy
Two subspecies accepted:
- C. r. rhodochlamys in extreme eastern Uzbekistan to southwest China, Altai and northern Mongolia
- C. r. kotschubeii in the Alai Mountains of Kyrgyzstan to the Pamirs and Tajikistan
Blyth's Rosefinch is sometimes included in this species.
Habitat
Temperate forests and boreal shrubland.
