- Dark purple-blue overall plumage

Distribution
Central and southern Africa.
Western Africa: found in Cameroon, Central African Republic, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Democratic Republic of Congo, Angola, Zaire
Eastern Africa: Sudan, South Sudan, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, Zambia
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Primary and secondary gallery and riparian forests. They prefer to forage in the canopy.
Behaviour
Diet
Their diet consists mostly of fruit and berries, including figs. They will occasionally eat insects.
Breeding
Mongamous. Their nest is a platform of twigs. The clutch contains 2 eggs which both adults incubate for 21-24 days; the young fledge after a further 4-7 weeks.
