Identification
9-9.5 cm. A small, long-leggged and tailless warbler.
- Russet crown to nape, cheeks and ear-coverts
- Pale indistinct supercilium
- Plain brown upperparts
- Darker brown flight-feathers and tail
- Whitish underparts except for greyer wash on breast and flanks
- Pale olive-brown legs
- sumbawana with duller crown, greyer cheeks and ear-coverts and not so russet
Sexes similar, females slightly smaller. Juveniles undescribed.
Distribution
Found on Sumbawa and Flores, Indonesia.
A restricted-range species, common in its range.
Taxonomy
- T. e. sumbawana on Sumbawa (western Lesser Sundas)
- T. e. everetti on Flores (western Lesser Sundas)
Habitat
Found in undergrowth and shade of moist forest, also in Casuarina forest, degraded woodland, edges of cultivation, secondary forest and scrub. Occurs up to 2140m on Flores, 200m to 1730m on Sumbawa.
Behaviour
Usually seen singly. An extremely active bird with quick movements.
Diet
No information.
Forages on the ground in undergrowth and in understorey, also on creeper-infested tree trunks up to 25m above the ground.
Breeding
Breeding season May to July. No other information.
Movements
This is a resident species.
