Distribution
South America: found in Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia.

There are 7 subspecies[1]:

- Santa Marta Mountains (north-eastern Colombia)
- H. g. granadensis:

- Montane forests of coastal northern Venezuela (Distrito Federal)

Habitat
Humid mossy montane forests, tropical pre-montane and mid elevation forests. Observed at heights around 2000 m.
Behaviour
Diet
They forage for insects in the lower and middle storey. They are sometimes alone or in pairs, and also in mixed species flocks.
Breeding
Their clutch consists of 2 eggs. Otherwise there is little other information available.
