Eremomela canescens

Identification

10–11 cm

  • Olive-green upperparts
  • Grey head
  • Yellowish-green rump and uppertail coverts

Distribution

Africa
Western Africa: Mauritania, Senegal, Senegambia, The Gambia, Chad, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo
Eastern Africa: Sudan, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda

Taxonomy

Subspecies

There are 4 subspecies[1]:

  • E. c. canescens:
  • E. c. elegans:
  • Sudan (Darfur and Kordofan to Sennar)
  • E. c. abyssinica:
  • E. c. elgonensis:
  • Western Kenya (Mount Elgon to southern Nandi Hills)

Habitat

Acacia woodland, open wooded savanna.

Behaviour

Diet

Their diet consists of insects and caterpillars.
