- Large white area around eye
- Chestnut face, throat and chin
Distribution
Central and South America:
Central America: Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama
South America: Colombia and Ecuador
Taxonomy
Subspecies
There are 5 subspecies[1]:
- C. p. richardsoni:
- C. p. infuscatus:
- Caribbean lowlands of Costa Rica and extreme north-western Panama
- C. p. lawrencii:
- C. p. propinquus:
- Tropical lowlands of north-western Colombia (Bolívar and Santander)
- C. p. phaeocephalus:
- Pacific lowlands of south-western Colombia to western Ecuador (south to El Oro)
Habitat
They are to be found in humid lowland forests and wet secondary growth at heights from sea-leve to 700 m. Occaionally to 1000 m.
Behaviour
Diet
Their diet seems to consist entirely of small insects and spiders which are gleaned on or near the ground.
