    Elizabeth Hall Wetlands

So I've been going to this marsh for a couple months now, and it's turned out to be quite a good birding spot with some good variety. Being my day off today I decided what better way to spend the morning than to go birding, right? It turned out to be a fairly fruitful day. Here's a list of the...

    Burrowing owl

Nice pic Nacho. They are fun owls to watch. Bobbing their heads up and down all the time. I used to have many families of burrowing owls living behind my house in Chile. Really a fascinating bird.

    Searching for owls

Ahhh, thanks for posting the links to previous threads. This is one area in my list that is definately lacking as well. It always seems to be GHO whenever I've found an owl. The only other ones I've found up here in Alberta are a couple Snowy Owls and a few Burrowing which I used to see all the...

    North Bulgaria birding

That's an amazing amount of species you racked up there! Sounds like an amazing trip you guys took. Some day I'll have to make my way over there. I can truly relate to the birding while driving dilemna. Given the wife a couple good scares, hehe.

    Good stuff

I was just noticing today how similar the Northern Flicker's call is to that of the Chilean's, the same "pitio" call, still not as distinct. Are there quite a few Becacinas? I don't remember there being any when I was down there. You go birding in the pitrantu at all? Nice going with the Mero...

species splits and merges in North America

thx roller, I guess it's pretty hard to find a site that would list all the changes. I found a site that listed a few here: http://www.avisys.net/aou.htm I guess I'm not very worried if there position in the book is changed, mainly changes such as the sage grouse split or the ones on the site...

    Legend 8x32's - any opinions

I've been looking at this pair of binos and was wondering if u guys had any opinions on the optical quality or how they compare to the 8x42s. Are there any other binos in the $400-500CN range that I should be looking at? Personally I like the close focus and the field of view. I'm just wondering...

How do you guys feel about Ken Kauffman's book? I like the whole idea of the digitally enhanced photos but kinda wish he would've stuck with the taxonomical(?) order. How about the text in the book? Is it quite informative or just the basics? Thanks for the answers so far, it's intersting to...

Back when I bought my Petersons, it was pretty much the only choice, Audobon's as well I guess. Now that we have a few new field guides I was wondering what all you American and Canadian birders are using. I know most of us like to collect as many as we can, the more the better , right? But...
