    Best Bird/Birding Experience of 2010

The twitchers documentry was a low point for me. Its a shame that people in our hobby can be that sad and wierd. Desert Sparrow in Morocco was pretty good.

    invasion year for waxwings?

I don't think there have been as many as 2004/5. Not in Perthshire and Fife anyway... They appear to have moved south earlier though.

    careers or business with birds?

Wish I'd got a trade instead. Get a job as a bricklayer or in a factory. Keep it a hobby but make it count. WeBS count, BTO atlas etc. You'll be skint forever if you go into it and there's loads of kids who fancy they could be a warden. Most of them are good at talking but not at birds and hard...

    Find a Wallcreeper

Where those White headed Long-tailed Tits a few years ago? There's a nice chalk cliff with a layby. Did I read somewhere they winter in Cypus. I've also heard stories of them scuttling about on the deck in fields in Spain and on the Hortobage.

    Madagascar Cuckoo Tanzania

I dob't want to tataly poo-poo the sighting but it's not just an African Cuckoo based on the amout of yellow on the bill. Cuculus are hard to do from pictures!

    Madagascar Cuckoo Tanzania

Not sure about this. I have nothing to hand right now but it could be the very similar looking Asian Lesser Cuckoo. I don't think Madagascar Cuckoo occurs in east africa in November. I'm no expert but I photographed one for id purposes in Uganda in May 2008.

    BBC Twitching Documentary

I'd be up for that but I'm mad. Perhaps the hide the American Bitten can be seen from. I'm sure everybody would get on fine. We're all safe to say what we like like behind our little keyboards. It's different when we meet in the field.

    Tayforth Birding

Loads of Waxwings in P+K. Over 50 near PO in Kinross today. I saw a Mealy Redpoll on Sunday at the Glen Sherup Car Park in Glendevon. There may well be more about. There were also at least 11 Crossbills and loads of Siskins. Probably 300. i have not looked at Loch Leven since Wednesday last week...

It left on the Sunday. I know this because I took a girl out to lunch instead of going for it after coming off Scilly. If I was a twitcher, would I have changed my plans? :-)
