    Salgados and Quinta do Lagos should be within reach too. Sagres is excellent for the Rib trips for Dolphins and seabirds, you need to book in advance though. The road to Villa de Bispo from Cape St Vincent can be productive for Shrikes and Farm land birds.

    Could someone confirm that this is a Blackheaded Gull. The head appears Black rather than dark brown and I cannot discern any red on the bill, not sure if it is a trick of the light or not. Taken today at Herriot`s Pool, Chew Valley Lakes.

    Finally had the op yesterday and vision already much improved. Can`t wait to get out birdwatching again without the frustration of not being able to locate birds that others can see clearly.

    Not tried the 16gb but have been using the 8gb with no problems. Have been using 7 day shop for a few years now for memory sticks, printer ink, photo paper, camera accessories etc and have not any problems to date.

    Interesting article. Here in Somerset we have the local M.P. banging on about the Environment Agency spending 31 Million pounds on a bird sanctuary whilst failing to find 5 Million for dredging. Of course he forgets to mention the 45 Million reduction in the E.A`s funding.

    Went for a check up today and finally my optician agrees that I should have the Operation. So just waiting for all the arrangements to be made now.

    Have an appointment this Saturday for another check up as my left eye is deteriorating rapidly, I am now tripping over things as I cannot judge distances very well. Hopefully this will lead to treatment (fingers crossed). Happy New Year to you all and thanks for the advice.
