    Rescued Collered Dove..

Just rescued a collered dove out of our pond, totally waterlogged but breathing - and by the looks of it exhausted. I've patted it down with kitchen paper and removed any leaves etc. that were stuck to it. I've got a pet carry box and put lots of dry hay in the bottom (plus some bird seed) and...

Saw this bird about the size of a wren, if not smaller. We spotted it at Whitby at the cliff edge near the Abbey. Had a distinctive streak on its head which was yellow with a little bit of white and an outline of black. We flicked through our colins gem bird guide (little pocket job which I...

What can I say, first time I've been - what an excellent place. It was a roasting day and was thouroughly tired at the end of it. Great to see a pair of snipe feeding, last time I saw snipe was on Orkney - they were drumming in the air near midnight at the Loons so didn't get a good look at...

Had a wander over to Bempton Cliffs today, hopefully to see some puffins. We were informed when we got there that they had all gone, so had the razorbills. All that was left were gannets, herring gulls, kitiwakes and fulmers. Was an enjoyable day, if not a bit blustery - blew the cobwebs...
